One particular scene in episode three captured viewers’ attention. Lily-Rose Depp’s character, pop star Jocelyn, recounted her childhood abuse, being beaten with a hairbrush by her late mother. The enigmatic cult leader, Tedros (played by Tesfaye), who had a hold over Jocelyn, took the same hairbrush and continued the beating, claiming it would turn her trauma into inspiration. He told her that enduring the pain would ultimately lead to something beautiful.

In the final episode, which aired on Sky Atlantic and NOW on Monday, fans were left confused by a line of dialogue spoken by Jocelyn. Six months after Jocelyn kicks Tedros out, she is scheduled to perform at Los Angeles’s SoFI Stadium. Surprisingly, she puts Tedros on the guestlist under his real name, Mauricio Jackson. When he reunites with Jocelyn in her dressing room, he notices the hairbrush.

Curiously, Tedros asks Jocelyn if it is the same hairbrush her mother used to beat her with. Jocelyn confirms that it is, but when he points out that it appears brand new, she simply looks at him without uttering a word. This revelation makes Tedros realize that Jocelyn may have lied to him about her abuse.

The twist has left bewildered fans scratching their heads and seeking answers about the scene’s meaning. One viewer exclaimed, “So Jocelyn was the villain all along, and the hairbrush ordeal was a way for her to manipulate Tedros? And now they are back together?” Another fan pleaded, “Can someone please explain the significance of the new hairbrush in the last episode of The Idol? Does it mean the entire story about her mother was a lie?”

The unexpected turn of events has sparked numerous discussions among viewers, as they try to unravel the true nature of Jocelyn’s character and her motivations. As the series comes to a close, fans are left pondering the complexities of The Idol’s storyline and eagerly awaiting any clarifications or explanations that may shed light on this intriguing plot twist.
